It’s springtime! Stop and smell the tulips.

Hi! It’s April and it’s springtime, one of my favorite times of the year. Officially, it’s been spring for about a month now, but here in Pennsylvania we are only starting to get the warmer weather that comes after the chilly winter months. I’m not a gardener but it’s probably safe to start planting now? We’ve had lots of rain in these parts but we finally have some high 60s and high 70s coming up.

The flowers are starting to be in full bloom – the daffodils and tulips in the front yard, and cherry blossoms in the neighborhood!

Besides the weather starting to warm up and lots of rainy weather perfect for sitting down with a hot cup of tea/coffee and a book, another reason why I love April is because it’s my birthday month! We had a death in the family last year so we kept it simple and local, instead of my original plan for a special day in New York. This year, I’m not planning anything super grand either (for hopefully a special trip later in the year!!), but we’ll at least be going over to Maryland in our favorite Korean BBQ place and dessert shops!

In 2022, as part of my birthday celebration + a special spring trip, we went to see the tulips at Holland Ridge Farms in Cream Ridge, NJ (a little over 2-hr drive)! My parents and I made a day of it and we had a lovely time, chatting with some of the staff and other farm visitors/tourists, and of course, witnessing the beautiful and seemingly endless rows of tulips! If you’re ever near the area, I highly recommend as a family spring travel destination!

It’s so nice to reminisce on past experiences while making new ones 🙂

Until next time & thanks for reading!
