What happened in January?

It’s almost spring, and today we probably got the one of the last snow days. It was gloomy and rainy and snowy and I stayed home. But before the year is over (because it will be before we know it), I wanted to take some time and look back to the beginning…

January always gets me excited – new beginnings, fresh start, and renewed motivation! I didn’t decide on any resolutions this year. One, I didn’t want the pressure. Two, I didn’t want the discouraging crash after I fail to do what I resolved to do the first time during the year. Instead, I gave myself flexible goals – things I could work on/start whenever I want, even if it’s only a little bit at a time. The main goal is to be intentional in everything I do. I wanted to add value not only in my life, but also in others. I wanted to be aware of all the areas where I have a lot of growing to do.

With these in mind, I was off to a great start!

I read a lot and enjoyed what I read. I spent time with the most important people in my life. I kept my mind open, welcomed new opportunities, and didn’t let ego/pride drive decisions. Although I still have a lot of growing in this area, whenever I could, I chose to be kind. I realized that life isn’t about being right or being smart – wisdom is in the struggle to choosing kindness over “winning” an argument. I probably don’t choose wisely 75% of the time, but always, I pray to God to guide me to make me more like Jesus everyday. There’s this worship song that gets me every time.

If more of You

Means less of me

Take everything

Yes, all of You

Is all I need

Take everything
