Yummy homemade hummus: did I just turn into a true Millenial?

Hi hi! It’s been a while πŸ™‚

My Christmas vacation has officially started so I figured I’ll drop by for a quick post.

A week or so ago, I made homemade hummus for the very first time, and it came out delicious. If you’re curious, here’s the recipe I used as a guide.

I did modify the recipe a bit just to cater to my personal taste: I hate cumin so I didn’t add that at all and instead added ground mustard and cayenne pepper. Next time, I have to actually add actual minced garlic instead of the one that comes in a bottle (lazy moment). I actually just added all the chickpeas in one go and it came out perfectly smooth – not sure if it’s the Ninja food processor attachment or the chickpeas I got. I also ended up not needing the salt because the juice from the chickpeas can was salty/flavorful enough. The key though is the lemon juice 🀌🏻

One of my 2023 resolutions is to meal plan a little more often. I made some progress this year and I ended up eating a lot healthier when I did and enjoying myself too because I find it relaxing to follow recipes and try something new. The shopping is not as fun when it’s busy but I’ve been loving being near a Wegman’s! They have this app where I can just add everything I need before heading to the store and it works as a checklist that’s organized into the aisles/sections of the stores where the items are found, which makes the shopping trip a lot more efficient and fun (and more affordable, because I have less tendency to grab something off shelves impulsively).

Anyway, I hope to share more recipes I try then!

You’ll probably hear from me again soon for my 2022 reading wrap-up.

Until then, hope you keep warm and loved! πŸ™‚
